This morning Grayson said, "Daddy, this market is going down!" It fell about 3%.

"When are they going to comb my hair!"

After eating or sleeping we're guaranteed to get lots of smiles and giggles; but usually not beforehand.

Holy Baptism

The following was read to the congregation introducing Grayson's baptism:
"Whenever we come to witness a baptism, it is the same as coming to witness a marriage. A marriage is the act of God uniting man and woman, so that the two become one flesh. In the same way, a baptism is the act of God uniting a person to the body of Christ. Marriage transforms a person’s identity because the individual is then united to another. And just as well, baptism transforms a person’s identity because the individual is united the Lord’s body. And with a new identity comes a new name. For in baptism God places His holy name upon a person, just as a husband gives his last name to his bride. And just as parents give their last name to their children, so also God gives His Triune name to the children born in His church.

So in this baptism, God is giving His name to Grayson Ferrell Greene today. And in giving His name, God is giving His promises. The security of God's promises includes all that is symbolized in this baptism. The Triune God is promising the adoption of God the Father, the forgiveness of sins through God the Son, and the cleansing and maturing work of God the Holy Spirit. These promises are given to Grayson in baptism, so that when he is tempted and tested in the providence of God, he will know that his heavenly Father has promised to protect him. When Grayson continually repents of his sins and trusting in Jesus, he will know that Christ promises forgiveness. And as he grows in the faith, he will know that the Holy Spirit is working in him as God has promised. And even when God brings him through the pains of death, Grayson will know that God promises the coming resurrection as the ultimate victory. Grayson will know all of this because he will know the name of his God, who now seals to him these promises. By his parents’ discipline and the church’s admonition, he will be continually reminded of these promises. And since God's name is trustworthy, Grayson is responsible for trusting in God's worthy promises.

Our responsibility of bearing God's name, and trusting in God’s promises endures for the rest of our lives, just like a man and wife are responsible to their marriage "until death do they part". So as this baptism initiates Grayson into the covenant, God is at the same time reminding us, who are baptized, of His promises. For as a baptized people we must have faith and repentance with the diligent use of the means of grace, so that God’s promises will have their full effect of granting us the inheritance of eternal salvation. For on the Day of Judgment our baptism will be taken into consideration as an evidence of our faith and repentance in Christ, and of our interest in God’s inheritance. But to those who do not have the fruits of faith and repentance, having neglected the great salvation that God has promised, their baptism will only heighten the severity of God's judgment with the pains of eternal hell.

So as Grayson begins his Christian pilgrimage today, let us improve upon our baptism by continuing in the journey of our faith, renewing our vows to Christ, and forever resting in the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior."

At 2 months old Grayson is 10 pounds 1.5 onces and 22 inches tall.

Ms. Mena is the eldest member of our church, being 103 yrs. old. Yet, with good health and her joyful spirit she is able to hold 6-week-old Grayson. Rarely do you see the experiences of over a century cradling in her arms the start of another century.

Grayson's Hobby

Grayson loves doing three things: eating, sleeping, and crying. But he is getting creative - he can easily switch the order of it all! He can cry, sleep, and eat. Or he can sleep, cry, and eat. But I think his favorite is sleeping. Here are some pics as he skillfully develops that craft, which will years from now become a roaring snore. Also, he is plaqued with "arm-itis". Someone has to hold him for him to sleep.
