Mary Gibson Greene has arrived!!!

Mary Gibson Greene was born on Tuesday September 16, 2008 at 4:53 a.m. She was 20 1/2 inches long, weighing 7 lbs. 2 ounces with a head full of dark hair, and ready to embrace the world! With her arrival we will soon be adjusting our blog site & title. And she was delighted to know that her southern charm sparkled through with her double name: Mary Gibson.

Notice the clock in the background; we were up all night long.
Grayson has many signs of affection, petting being just one of them. He has no clue that his world is turning upside down.

Here is Mary Gibson's cousin, Maddie (6 yrs old) holding her and teaching her to be a little lady.

August Days

Grayson likes to try out different hairstyles while taking a bath. Here we're not sure if he looks like a blonde Eddie Munster or a young Donald Trump with the comb-over.

In addition to his rock box, he loves playing with his dinosaur and his house.

Waiting For Mary Gibson

Today I went for my 35 week doctor's appointment and ultrasound. It is hard to believe that we are already at this stage in the game! Mary Gibson was sucking her big toe and showing us her tongue :) The ultrasound machine approximates that she is currently 5 lbs 6 oz. So, if she gains 1/2 a pound a week until D-Day she will probably weigh about the same as Grayson did at birth (7lbs. 4oz.) or maybe even a little more...who knows?! I am feeling well except for horrible heartburn 24 hours a day. Her nursery is just about complete and we are getting very excited to see what she looks like and to hold her in our arms. We keep trying to explain to Grayson what is about to happen but he just looks at us and laughs (we think he is in denial :)!! ) We will post some pics soon of Mary Gibson's nursery and Grayson's big boy room.

Eating Time

This is Grayson's favorite way to eat, with feet hanging over the tray and toes with which to play.

New Camera

Several weeks ago Katy walked into our carport only to find a man in her car trying to steal anything he could. Among the items was our very nice digital camera, 2 batteries, 2 full memory cards, all within a case. The thief, unbeknown to us at the time, ran off with it. It was several days later that we realized the camera was missing. Unfortunately, we had not downloaded or printed any of the pictures from the memory cards except for what was on the blog. After several weeks of Katy crying, wailing, and gnashing of teeth, she has accepted the fact that the pics are gone to the other side of the tracks - never to be seen again. We will never wait that long to download pictures again!
Since we have finally given up on the local police to retrieve the camera, we have purchased another one. Here is one of the first pics with our new camera. So we are grasping our new camera tightly and are back in the saddle again blogging pics of Grayson...and soon to be Mary Gibson in September.

Summer Days

We picked some peaches at a peach farm out in the country and Grayson loved running around all the trees.

His pool for the backyard worked fine, but the town water was too cold. Here he is shivering in the water, and we quickly got him out. Yet, he adamantly let us know that he'd rather be freezing in the water!

A Weekend of Firsts for Grayson

He loves to swim, the problem is he thinks he can. He has no fear of water because he knows that Da-Da will catch him. But he was more entertained by watching the water drip from his shorts - he must have thought it was something else.

This was his first time at Cafe DuMond in New Orleans, and he loved chasing the pigeons. When he tasted the powdered sugar on the beignets, he smiled.

He also went to the aquarium in New Orleans, but the electrical sockets were more entertaining to him than the fish.

This was his first time touching a stingray - which he will never do while in a boat.

This was Grayson's first boat ride. We were in a bayou north of Lake Ponchatrain.

He was scared to ride with paw-paw on the lawn mower, but with da-da holding him everything was alright.
This was his first time to play with a fish.

He's trying to see the fish swimming above.

Grayson's 12 month checkup!!

Grayson and I drove to Baton Rouge yesterday for his 12 month checkup. He smiled and flirted with everyone he saw, except for the nurse who gave him the shot in his sweet little leg. He soon got over it and was back to his joyful self within seconds! Grayson got a wonderful report from the doctor.
At one year old he weighs 20 pounds 15 ounces and is 30 1/4 inches tall.
Grayson likes to run around the yard all day and play in his rock box. His vocabulary consists of Mama, Dada, Uh-Oh, and Da (Dog) and of course lots of babbling in between. He waves hello and bye bye and loves to clap for himself and say "yeah". He is enjoying his newfound independence but along with this comes the testing of all boundaries and the wills of men!

Grayson playing with his cousins in the backyard

Paw Paw made this rock box for Grayson and it was the hit of the party!

The kids had a blast being pulled by Paw Paw in the wagon around the yard in big circles over and over and over again...Paw Paw was a very good sport :)
My mom was very much in the party spirit! She wrapped Grayson's birthday gifts to look like barns (complete with a picture of him on each package)! Go grandma Dee!!!

Grayson's 1st Birthday!!!

This is the invitation we sent out for Grayson's farm-animal themed birthday party (the blue lines are where we marked out our address :).

This was my first time to bake a cake and have it look like something other than a cake! Grayson requested a barn cake for his party...so here it is. The 26th was Eric's actual birthday, so we decided to celebrate both birthdays that day. I decided to bake Eric a chocolate cake for the party.
Our breakfast room table was decorated as the "party table" where the kids and their parents sat. I had a cow print table cloth and farm animal hats for the children (the only problem was that the heads in our family run large and the hats didn't fit!...but they made cute table decoration :)

Part of Grayson's birthday present from us was his cute farm -animal smocked outfit.
